Disrepair and other problems in your home
The main issues that you must report include:

Leaks and water ingress (from roofs, pipes, bathrooms, appliances)

Damp and mould

Heating or hot water failures

Electrical faults (sparking sockets, tripping circuits, exposed wiring)

Structural issues (cracks, loose plaster, unstable stairs, ceilings at risk of collapse)

Broken windows, doors, or locks

Unsafe gas appliances or carbon monoxide concerns

Pest infestations (rats, mice, cockroaches, bedbugs)

Broken appliances installed by the landlord (cookers, fridges, boilers, etc)

Blocked drains or toilets
Exceptions are where you, someone in your household, or a visitor, damages something (for example, breaks a window or blocks the toilet). You may have to pay for repairing the damage.
If you report a problem and your landlord does not respond within a reasonable time, you can consider starting the long process of legal action, which usually begins by trying to agree a joint expert to inspect your home and produce a Condition Report. Another option is to ask Brent Council to inspect your home. If Brent verify the problems, they must inform the landlord and should order them to do the necessary works. If your landlord does not do so, Brent can get the work done themselves and bill the landlord for the cost. They can also prosecute the landlord.
